Freelancer Payment Protection
A service where client payments are secured via a regulated payment partner until the freelancer delivers the agreed work. If the client refuses to pay or the work isn't delivered, either party can raise a dispute for a fair resolution.
The Freelance Payment Problem
Freelancers in India face constant payment risks. Common issues include:
- Client disappears after receiving work
- Client refuses to pay after delivery
- Scope creep without additional payment
- Advance payment scams targeting freelancers
GuardPe's freelancer payment protection eliminates these risks. Here's how:
How Freelancer Payment Protection Works
Payment secured before delivery
Client funds the deal before you start work. Funds are held by our regulated payment partner until you deliver.
Milestone-based protection
Break large projects into milestones. Get paid after each deliverable is approved.
Dispute resolution included
If a client disputes quality, our team reviews evidence and ensures fair outcomes.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does freelancer payment protection work?↓
When you create a deal on GuardPe, your client pays into escrow first. You then deliver the agreed work. Once the client approves, the payment is released to your account. If the client doesn't respond within 7 days, funds are automatically released to you.
Can I get paid in milestones?↓
Yes. GuardPe supports milestone-based deals. You can break a project into multiple stages, and get paid after each milestone is approved. This is ideal for long-term projects where you want regular payments.
What if the client disputes my work?↓
If a client raises a dispute, our team reviews the evidence from both sides — your deliverable and their complaint. We issue a fair resolution, which could mean full payment, partial payment, or a refund to the client.
How much does freelancer payment protection cost?↓
GuardPe charges a small protection fee: 5% for deals under ₹10,000 (minimum ₹99), 3% for ₹10,000–₹50,000, and 2% for above ₹50,000. Plus 18% GST. The fee is paid by whoever funds the deal.
Is this legal in India?↓
Yes. GuardPe is an intermediary platform registered in India. Payments are processed by Cashfree Payments India Pvt. Ltd., an RBI-licensed payment aggregator. GuardPe does not hold funds — all payments flow through Cashfree's regulated nodal account.
How do I convince clients to use escrow?↓
Explain the benefits: escrow protects both parties. For the client, it means they can get a refund if you don't deliver. This builds trust and makes clients more comfortable hiring freelancers they don't know.
